Technology guidelines

As this summer school is web-based, online learners will require regular access to a computer with an internet connexion and browser in order to participate.

Before applying, please verify that your computer hardware, software and settings are correct and compatible with the minimum requirements below.

Please note: participants are expected to join from a suitable, quiet location, and will be sent a welcome email with information on how to connect to the web conferencing platform prior to the start of the programme. 

Computer minimum specifications

  • 2GHz or faster processor, 4GB RAM

Please install the most recent operating system and web browser.

Bandwidth requirements

  • Download/upload: minimum 3 Mbps

Internet access via a direct network connection is highly recommended for an optimal learning experience.

Video

Students are required to use either a built-in or USB plug-in webcam during class.

Audio

Be prepared to use a microphone during class. We recommend using a headset, rather than the microphone that is built into your computer. Avoid wireless headphones if possible.
