Dominique Darbon

Dominique DARBON is Professor of Political Sciences at Sciences Po Bordeaux. A graduate in political science, African studies and law, his main research themes focus on administrative reform, the analysis of public policies in African countries, the management of administrations and comparative administrative systems, the transformations of social structures and the emergence of market capacities. Prof. Darbon is responsible for the “African middle classes” programme and manages the “Public policies and public action in African countries and ESF” project. His teaching focuses on the analysis of public policies, the management of administrations and comparative administrations, the sociology of organisations and change, general political sociology and African countries and on the transformation of cities in connection with the emergence of new social and economic stratifications.

Former director of CREDU Harare and CEAN, former editor-in-chief of the journal "Politique Africaine" and former president of the scientific council of the Africa pole of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prof. Darbon has been director of Les Afriques dans le Monde (LAM) since 2018. He is also the deputy director of the doctoral school "Society, politics, public health" (SP2) of the University of Bordeaux.
